The Twilight Time
by Seth Seong
By the twilight time, all's golden bright and fading
roads turning redder, as amber, brandy, laughter
quiet highs with neighbors, sitting, watching, waiting
the urban energy fading, dissipates together.
Talk show fears and blues azure, hissing records playing
turning heavier, as laughter, suburban laughter
grass's thinning layer, like amber, brandy, slander
the heights of the slow day falling, wayward meander.
In the twilight time the sun pointed straight across
adobe, brick and mortar, paved thoughts and matters, growing silent faster,
till darker times and their incursion turn
lights bright as mirrors
in houses alabaster.
Seth Seong is a poet from Renton, Washington
