Holidays

by Thomas Crofts

in the afternoon

the buildings are beginning

to go quiet

and a colder breeze

pours through the window

people everywhere

are beginning to say

             'fuck it'

A professor of Medieval literature and Classics at East Tennessee State University, Thomas Crofts is also a drummer and rabbit farmer. His poetry has appeared in, among other places, The Madison Insurgent, The Texas Observer, Born Magazine, Tribeca Poetry Review, and, most recently, The Southern Poetry Anthology, Vol. VIII: Texas.
