J.P. Check writes short stories and learned how to paint three years ago in hopes it would give his writing an edge. Check lives in New York for graduate school, but a really poor town in North Alabama is home.  J.P.'s paintings have imagery mostly influenced by his hometown. They are mixed media works comprised of layers of acrylic paint, pen, and paper.
