Vanish
by Richard Pryll Jr.
I.
One limb hovers
frozen above a disheveled field
of hurt’s dismembered belongings.
Unsinkable truth seeps
into the earth.
Bright flags belie
a caravan of ice.
II.
Cable news obliterates the story
until advertising dollars
crave new news.
Like a plane it
vanishes, from
airwaves, from collective
conscience.
III.
One limb two years three
hundred souls the sucking
stillness,
a vast unknowable
bigger than doubt
to remind us how
little.
Rick Pryll is an award-winning author and poet with 4 books in print. A graduate of MIT, Rick and his wife, artist Holly Spruck, reside in Charlotte, NC. They have 2 children and 3 cats.
