After years working as a human rights lawyer in Egypt, Mohamed came to the United States in order to fuse his passion for human rights and social justice with his passion for films. He went to film school in Santa Barbara and after graduating has directed four short documentaries: Outside Perspectives of America, Muslims in Latin America, The History of the Islamic Movement in Jordan, The Umayyad Desert Castles, Transforming power “ The Alternatives to Violence Project in Sudan” And length feature: The University of Nuclear Bombs . The film, directed and produced by Joshua King Ortiz and Mohamed Elsawi, was finished in January 2010 and has already been Officially Selected to the 25th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and has been nominated for The Fund For Santa Barbara Social Justice Award
